Valeria found New Legacy when she was pregnant with her son Benjamin. The Colorado Adolescent Maternity Program (CAMP) hosts monthly baby showers at New Legacy, and Valeria attended the shower and was introduced to the school. (This is a great example of how our many community partnerships support students!) Valeria quickly enrolled, and Benji started attending the ELC once he was born.
Valeria is thankful for the many opportunities available to her and Benji. She is interested in becoming a nurse and a midwife, and her Real World Learning experiences are helping her forge this path. She has interned at UCHealth and is currently enrolled in our in-house Child Development Associates (CDA) certification program, which will allow her to work in early childhood education. Valeria’s favorite classes are math and parenting. She has particularly enjoyed learning about how to take care of Benji when he is sick.
Benji loves being in the Early Learning Center. His teachers, Gabby and Tasha, have given him one-on-one attention to support his development. Valeria loves to see what he is learning every day. As she says, “Gabby and Tasha are actually teaching him and following a schedule; he has his own curriculum.”
We love seeing Valeria and Benji thrive and can’t wait to see what other opportunities come their way!
