KCA Featured in PBS Article for Innovative School Model

PBS highlighted KCA in an article, titled:”Students carry Ute culture forward at Ute Mountain Ute School”

“Kwiyagat Community Academy follows state academic standards while emphasizing Ute language, traditional skills and Indigenous knowledge…Students take culture class every day. Younger children begin with simple words in Ute — such as family members, animals and body parts. As they move up, they learn to form sentences. By the time they graduate, they are expected to hold a conversation in Ute.”

High Rockies Breaks Ground on Education Center

High Rockies Community School celebrated the groundbreaking of a renovated barn at Sacramento Creek Ranch that will serve as the school’s indoor home base and a community education center. The project is supported by CSI, Mountain Area Land Trust, local partners, and the South Park community.
