Ryan Marks

Chief of Authorizing & Accountability

My name is Ryan Marks (he/him) and I have been with CSI since 2014. As the Chief of Authorizing and Accountability, I work to develop and implement evaluation and monitoring tools to guide and inform organizational decision-making and leverage evidence-based practices to create better outcomes for students. I oversee the various charter application cycles including the new school application and the charter renewal process, annual accountability, data visualization and reporting, and school policy and compliance.

I received a B.S. in Biological Sciences and an M.A. in Research Methods and Statistics from the University of Denver and have an administrator license and professional teaching license with endorsements in secondary science education, gifted and talented education, special education, and linguistically diverse education. I have more than a decade of experience in education and was a middle school science teacher in Thailand and Colorado prior to joining CSI.

I enjoy working at CSI because I can work with many different school models across the state in urban, rural, and suburban locations. I am consistently inspired by the ability of the charter school movement and those working in charter schools to produce amazing outcomes for all students across this wide variety of educational models and geographies. It’s important to me that students across Colorado can get a high-quality education in a school model that works for them.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time outside with my family hiking, gardening, or simply exploring the neighborhood playground. I also serve on the board of directors for Colorado High School Charter, an alternative charter high school in Denver.

I hope to continue to find new and nuanced ways to understand and communicate schools are meeting their missions and the needs of their students and communities.
