Bianca (graduating class of 2022) came to New Legacy when she learned she was pregnant with her son, Xa’Kye. Her hard work, leadership, and desire to improve her life and her son’s life were evident every day. She was thankful to the Early Learning Center for the education they gave Xa’Kye, and she loved seeing how much he grew while at New Legacy. She credits much of her own success to the one-on-one support from staff that helped her stay on track, and she especially appreciated her parenting class. As a senior, Bianca showed an interest in dentistry, so she chose to pursue an internship at Adventure Dental.

After graduating, she immediately enrolled in Emily Griffith Technical College’s Dental Assistant Certificate program. Because of her internship experience, the program was much easier for her, and she successfully completed the certification. Bianca has come full circle: she now has a job at her previous internship site!

Biance gave the following advice to New Legacy’s underclass students: “Give it your all. Don’t give up. If you are stuck, don’t be scared. New Legacy gave me confidence to ask for help because staff will help you any time. The staff taught me to advocate for myself. You can do it too.”
