Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! It is hard to believe that summer “break” is already nearing its end. It is even harder to believe there are only a few weeks (or days, for some of you!) until students return.
As we gear up for the school year, we are anticipating another year of growth in the portfolio. This steady growth is a testament to the attentiveness of each school in listening to and meeting the needs of its community. It’s a testament to why charters are such an important piece of the public education landscape.
While the CSI Team, like your schools, is comprised of so many unique people, with different backgrounds, experiences, skillsets, and beliefs, we all share something in common–our organizational why:
-
- We possess a foundational belief that all children, regardless of community, color, class—or any other characteristic—should have access to high-quality school options.
- We believe that all families should have a choice in determining the school that meets the unique needs of their children.
These are the beliefs that guide us.
About a year and a half ago, we published a page on our website to highlight the personal reasons by students, families, staff, and leaders have chosen their CSI charter schools.
As we jump in to the 2021-22 school year, I encourage you to take time to remind yourself of your why—why you lead a charter school, why you work at a charter school, why your children attend a charter school—and for those of you who may be so inclined, I welcome you to share your why with us!
I truly hope you take the time to reflect on your own “why” and encourage others from your school community to do the same. And I look forward to reading the stories for those in your community who are willing to share with us.
In the meantime, I encourage you to read some of the stories from the CSI community!
