The purpose of the READ collection is to determine per pupil funding for districts by taking a count of Kindergarten through Grade 3 students at the end of the year who have a significant reading deficiency. The READ collection also counts the students in grades 4 - 12 that are in a READ cohort. For the 15-16 READ collection, the READ cohort count apples to grades 4 - 6.
