WIDA Screener/ELL training (repeat of May training)

This training covers the new state-required ELL screener tool, as well as an overview of ELL identification, programming, and re-designation requirements. All schools must have a staff member trained to give the WIDA Screener to any incoming students with a "YES" on their home language survey. Training strongly encouraged for SACs and ELL coordinators, but open to all staff members.

CSI 2018-2019 EL Professional Development workshops

In response to feedback from school leaders and staff, CSI is exited to offer a professional development series specifically for staff working with linguistically diverse learners. With the exception of the kick-off workshop, trainings will be held regionally. CTE certificates will be available for all workshops.

Kick-off workshop

September 21, 8 am-4 pm, Denver (TBD)

This workshop will kick off our 2018-2019 professional development series for staff working with linguistically diverse students. The first workshop will be an opportunity to connect with other ELL coordinators and teachers from around the state. The majority of this workshop will be led by Mia Ariela Allen (bio below), and will focus on aligning programs and procedures to support linguistically diverse students. Attendees will also have the opportunity to review their ELL student lists by proficiency level, and to begin work on updating their school's EL program plan. Mia Ariela Allen- bio - insert here.

A travel stipend will be offered to schools outside the Denver metro in order to offset the cost of travel, and to encourage participation. If you are interested in receiving a travel stipend, please let me know by September 7th.
